Applies to: SquareNow Android app (Google Play package [CONFIRM: in.kapiital.squarenow]) and the SquareNow web console.
This page exists to satisfy Google Play’s account-deletion requirement and the right of erasure under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. It is publicly accessible without sign-in and is linked from the SquareNow listing on Google Play.
Two routes — pick the one that matches you
Route A — In-app deletion (recommended, fastest)
Most SquareNow users can delete their account directly from the app:
- Open the SquareNow Android app.
- Tap your profile picture (top-right).
- Tap Account → Privacy → Delete my account.
- Read the on-screen confirmation of what will be deleted and what must be retained for statutory reasons (see “What is deleted” below).
- Re-authenticate and tap Delete.
The same flow exists in the web console at https://app.squarenow.co.in under Settings → Privacy.
A confirmation email is sent to the email address on file once the request is queued.
Route B — Web request (use if you cannot sign in)
If you are locked out of your account, your employer has off-boarded you, or you simply prefer email — send a deletion request to:
Email: [CONFIRM: privacy@kapiital.com]
Subject: Account deletion request — SquareNow
Body must include:
- The email address registered on the SquareNow account.
- The mobile number registered on the SquareNow account, if any.
- The name of the lender (employer) under which the account was created.
- A statement that you are the account holder requesting deletion, or that you are exercising the right of erasure under the DPDP Act on behalf of a data principal you are authorised to represent.
We will reply within 3 business days to acknowledge the request, verify your identity (to prevent impersonation), and confirm the deletion timeline.
What is deleted
Within 30 days of a verified deletion request, the following are deleted from production systems:
- Your profile data: name, email, phone, designation, profile photo.
- Your authentication data: password hash, MFA factors, registered devices, session tokens.
- Your usage data tied to your identity: search queries, in-app preferences, draft files, comments, notes.
- Photos, voice notes, or files you uploaded that are not part of a regulated lender record.
- Your support tickets and chat history with our support team.
Encrypted backups are rotated out within 90 days of deletion from production.
What is retained, and why
Some data must be retained for legal and audit reasons even after your account is deleted:
| Category | Why we must keep it | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Audit-log entries showing actions you performed on lender records (KYC approvals, underwriting recommendations, disbursement orchestrations, collection notes) | RBI directions, PMLA, the lender’s audit obligations | Per the lender’s retention policy, typically 7–10 years |
| KYC documents and decision artefacts you processed on behalf of a borrower | PMLA Rules 2005, KYC Master Direction | Typically 10 years after closure of the loan account |
| Billing records (only if you contracted with us personally) | Companies Act 2013, GST law | 8 financial years |
| Limited identity reference (name + employee ID + the lender) | To make audit logs intelligible to auditors | Same as the audit log itself |
| Records subject to a legal hold or active investigation | Court / regulator order | Until released |
Where retention is required by the lender (because they are the Data Fiduciary for borrower data they collected through SquareNow), deletion of your user account does not delete the lender’s records. Your name will continue to appear in the lender’s audit logs as the operator who performed an action, because that is how audit accountability works. Contact your employer to remove your name from lender-side records, subject to the lender’s own retention obligations.
What deletion does not affect
- A separate borrower’s data — that belongs to the lender, not to you.
- Records held by third parties (e.g. credit bureaus, the GSTN, the MCA) — you must approach those parties directly.
- Marketing emails — if you were on a marketing list, unsubscribe via the link in any marketing email; deletion of the account also removes you from the list.
Re-creation
After deletion, the email address and mobile number you registered with may be reused to create a new account in the future. The deleted account is not recoverable.
